Nice to be acknowledged by seeing our names as Dolphin Award winners, but the real winners were somewhat “behind the scenes.” Susan Cloke and Fran Diamond of the Regional Water Board had the determination and vision about the environmental potential of the Chili Cook-Off site, and Jerry Perenchio not only agreed to give them/Malibu a chance to pull it off, but also took a $10 million decrease in the value of the land. And Sharon Barovsky and Katie Lichtig had the guts to have a “heart-to-heart” talk with the Greens and the Soboroffs about Malibu Creek Plaza making the first quarter million dollar contribution!
You have our permission to pull our names off the list and give the award to those five. They deserve it far more than us!
