Letter: Definition of Democracy

What could have happened if only popular votes had been counted in the 2016 presidential election?

In California, there were approximately four million more votes cast on the Democratic side than on the Republican side. It is conceivable that Donald Trump could have won 49 states and still lost the election because of the top-heavy liberal population in this state. California would thereby overrule the rest of our country.

Does that sound like democracy to anybody? California is out of touch with America, not the other way around.

The genius of the Electoral College guarantees that the voices in every state are heard, not just the large metropolitan areas and massive population centers.

The Democrats lost this election all by themselves. Put the blame where it belongs. Hillary totally ignored Middle America while she raised millions in Hollywood and Beverly Hills, which lead to her defeat in the “fly-over” states.

The angry Left should stop whining and work instead to make the next administration successful for all America.
