The Malibu Times and the Santa Monica Daily Press will be hosting a candidate forum for those running for Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education seats this fall. Co-sponsored by AMPS [Advocates for Malibu Public Schools], the forum will take place Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Point Dume Marine Science School, from 6-7:30 p.m. Assistance will be provided by SMMUSD students.
The five candidates are running for four seats: newcomer Ann Maggio Thanawalla and incumbents Oscar de la Torre, Craig Foster, Laurie Lieberman and Richard Tahvildaran-Jesswein.
Three Malibu City Council forums have been scheduled:
Monday, Sept. 24, at Fire Camp 8, from 7-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 3, at HRL Laboratories, from 5-8 p.m. (hosted by Association of Realtors/Malibu Chamber of Commerce)
Sunday, Oct. 7, at Malibu Library, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. (hosted by Malibu Democratic Club)
