The men and women of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station would like to thank the Malibu residents and visitors who assisted us after the airplane crash which occurred on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004.

In the immediate aftermath of this horrific event, emergency personnel from the County Lifeguards, Fire Department, Coast Guard, boat deputies from Marina Del Rey and personnel from Malibu/Lost Hills Station responded to the scene and found many caring citizens taking action in an attempt to render aid to the three souls aboard the downed planes. Numerous people swam out into the water, utilized surfboards or kayaks hoping to save lives.

Unfortunately no one survived the accident; however, it was not for lack of trying. These fine people also helped preserve evidence and protect the scene for authorities.

Everyone from Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station is very proud and grateful of the efforts put forth by Malibu’s residents and visitors on that tragic afternoon.
