The City of Malibu was recently awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. This is the 15th time the City of Malibu has received the award.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional organization that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals, and the Certificate of Achievement is the organization’s highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Malibu’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to ensure it meets the program’s high standards, including spirit of full disclosure, according to a release by the City of Malibu.

“I am extremely proud that the city has earned this award because it demonstrates Malibu’s commitment to transparency, responsible management of the public’s funds and overall good governance,” Mayor Laura Rosenthal said in a release. “I applaud the meticulous work of our recently appointed City Manager Reva Feldman, who, as Assistant City Manager, has led the city’s outstanding budget and finance management for years.”
