Jean Rosenfeld celebrated her 95th birthday on March 6, 2017, surrounded by her neighbors in Serra Retreat.
The party, featuring a Scottish bagpiper, was organized by her daughters, Judy and Joan. Jean is a longtime Malibu resident, having moved here in the ’60s. Her father, Isaac Levy, was born in Los Angeles in the 1870s. Jean was also born in LA and attended Stanford University and UCLA, receiving a Master’s in Library Science from UCLA. She worked as a children’s librarian and with the bookmobile for the LA Public Library, downtown branch. Later, she worked at the University Research Library at UCLA in gifts and acquisitions and was a regular diner at Philippes’s Restaurant near Union Station.
