Crime Report

The following crimes were reported in Malibu between July 23 and July 26:

7/23 

‘Eye’ see you

-Authorities were called to the Malibu Eye Center on Cross Creek Road around 11:30 p.m. after an alarm sounded and an employee reported missing items. Based on video surveillance of the store, the suspect broke in through a back entrance, ransacked the store and stole over $9,000 worth of goods. The suspect was wearing a dark jacket with an orange hood and gloves.

7/24 

Poor Prius

-A Prius was broken into between 11 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Gallahad Road. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle, but the damage from the broken window totaled $500.

7/25 

Clothing crooks

-Suspects stole a backpack, shorts and sweatshirt from an unlocked vehicle on Skyline View Drive between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.

Consider yourself cited

-A purple iPod Nano, vehicle registration and a citation were stolen overnight from an unlocked vehicle on Rey De Copas Lane. The victim parked the vehicle outside of their residence overnight. The victim received a call about the citation the following morning and went to their vehicle to retrieve the citation, only to notice the missing information and iPod.

7/26 

Bus burglar

-A woman’s purse was stolen on a bus ride home from Santa Monica around 7:30 p.m. The victim stood up from her seat to help a passenger with a dog board the bus and didn’t notice her purse was missing until she reached her stop on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. A passport and wallet were in the purse, totaling over $650 stolen.
