[LA County Third District Supervisor] Sheila Kuehl just sold out her constituents with an unconscionable justification: “We’re trying to strike a balance between public safety and public access.”
No, supervisor, you aren’t. In no part of America is there any such “balance.” Communities and their representatives always, without exception, secure public safety first. Access always comes second and only after safety has been secured.
Would you attend an amusement park where the safety of the rides had been compromised for the sake of “public access”? Or would you insist that the rides were deemed 100 percent safe before the doors opened to the public?
Your rationale is craven and insincere. You just threw a suffering, devastated community under the bus for political expediency. I hope you’re happy with yourself.
