Malibu resident Leon Cooper’s book, “The War in the Pacific: A Retrospective,” was recently named a finalist for the 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. The book is in the history/historical nonfiction category.
Cooper is a World War II veteran. In his book, he analyzes three major Pacific battles in the war, and suggests they did not need to occur. Cooper blames Gen. Douglas MacArthur for the battles, which he said were conducted for his pursuit of personal goals, and ignored the safety and welfare of the military.
