Malibu Canyon Road was closed Thursday night.
One motorist reported hearing what sounded a single gunshot heard.
A sheriff’s helicopter and numerous units searched the canyon.

Another bad crash on Pacific Coast Highway Thursday night.
One car ended up in the ocean … overturned.
Another car rolled several times down the road.
And pedestrians were reportedly hit.
Five people hospitalized
The crash was reported at about 5:45 … on P C H just east of Mugu Rock.

Up in San Francisco yesterday … the California Public Utilties Commission approved its plan to allow California electric companies to shut off parts of their grids … when big Santa Ana windstorms threaten.
And coming soon: super-thick fire-resistant aerial powerlines.

And in other news from Northern California … a neighborhood on the beach near Santa Cruz is charging for admission to a public beach.
And that is giving the California Coastal Commission fits … according to the Los Angeles Times.

In news from down the coast … the city of Santa Monica is now begin to regulate electric bike and scooter companies.
As of September 17th … the number of Electric bikes and scooters Will be capped in Santa Monica.
No more than 1,000 e-bikes.
No more than 2 thousand e-scooters.
Thousands of electric scooters have been dumped on Santa Monica streets by two companies … Lime and Bird.
The city is trying to get a handle on what many residents and visitors say is a big mess.
The Santa Monica daily press reports that the program will regulate the number of shared devices parked on sidewalks each morning.
It will ban parking the scooters on Ocean Front Walk, the beach and its parking lots, the Third Street Promenade, The Pier, public parks and transit stops.
It’s already illegal to ride scooters on sidewalks in Santa Monica.
In Agoura Hills last month … a man driving an electric bike was killed when his vehicle ran into the path of a car.
49 year old Brian Larson … a Newbury Park resident … was killed.
The driver of the car … a Pepperdine graduate student … has apparently not been cited … the Acorn newspaper reports.

And a federal court judge has tossed out a lawsuit filed by a private pilot …. who objected tothe City of Santa Monica’s plan to close Santa Monica Airport.
The airport is the closest General aviation facility to Malibu.
The city and the FAA two years ago signed an agreement to shorten the runway … to reduce the number of jet takeoffs and landings.
That happened last Christmas … and the amount of jet operations at Santa Monica has plunged 80 percent.
