Director Tom Shadyac Holds Book Discussion in Malibu

Director and Malibu local Tom Shadyac is set to appear at Bank of Books on Heathercliff Road this Friday at 7 p.m. to discuss his new book “Life’s Operating Manual,” according to the bookstore’s website.  

Shadyac, who is notorious for directing comedies such as “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “The Nutty Professor,” brings a new, more serious tone to the book. “Life’s Operating Manual,” seeks to answer a fundamental question about society: Is it possible that life comes with a set of guidelines similar to operating manuals?

The book, which made The New York Times Best Seller List this summer, invites discussion about prominent issues found in modern society.  

Shadyac also recently spoke at Malibu High School’s graduation ceremony in June.
