Weekend Checkpoint Results in 27 Arrests, One for DUI

Sheriffs with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Department arrested a total of 27 people at a DUI checkpoint on Friday night, Jan. 16, including one arrest for DUI, or driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The weekend checkpoint, which ran from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, took placeĀ at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way, just west of the Civic Center area.

The majority of arrests, at a total of 16, were made for unlicensed drivers, while eight drivers with suspended licenses were also arrested.

  • 1 DUI & alcohol/drug suspect arrested
  • 1,646 vehicles through the checkpoint
  • 1,645 drivers checked at the checkpoint
  • 16 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court
  • 8 drivers with suspended licenses were arrested and sent to court
  • 3 vehicles were stored for 1 day
  • 7 vehicles were Impounded for 30 days
  • 15 vehicles were released per checkpoint release procedures
  • 1 motorist was arrested and booked for a misdemeanor arrest warrant
  • 2 motorists were cited and released for Misdemeanor traffic warrants
  • 1 motorist was arrested for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive
