Authorities from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station issued 121 citations during a “crosswalk safety enforcement operation” on Pacific Coast Highway near the Colony House Liquor Store last week.
During the five-hour operation, Sheriff’s deputies ticketed 110 motorists for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to Sgt. Phil Brooks. Five drivers were ticketed for “the more dangerous act of passing a stopped vehicle that has yielded to a pedestrian,” and six drivers were ticketed for other traffic violations, Brooks said.
The enforcement station was funded by the City of Malibu.
