Malibu fifth graders will show off their ballroom dancing skills at the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s (SMMUSD) annual ballroom dance event on Thursday, April 21, at Santa Monica High School’s Barnum Hall at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s event — themed Colors of the Rainbow — will showcase teams of 12 dancers from each elementary school in the district.
Through funding from the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation and the LA Arts Commission, Dancing Classrooms of Los Angeles has been able to provide ballroom dance instruction to all fifth grade students at participating schools during the 2015-16 school year. Top teams from the day’s competition will have the chance to advance to the Greater Los Angeles Dancing Classrooms Grand Finals.
