Two Malibu U-10 boys soccer teams, The Vipers and The Flaming Tigers, made it to the quarterfinals of the Area 10e regional soccer tournament in Moorpark last weekend.

The top 64 teams from Agoura, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks, Malibu, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Newbury Park qualified to compete in the tournament. Three games were played by each team on Saturday, in order to qualify to advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday.

The Vipers (in green), coached by Rick Erickson, were defeated in their quarterfinal game. The Flaming Tigers (in maroon), coached by Jeff Nikora, won their quarterfinal game, 3-1. The Tigers advanced to the semi-finals, where they won their game in a penalty kick shoot-out, in order to advance to the finals of the Area 10e tournament.

The Tigers won their final game with a score of 4-2 to become the Area 10e league champions. They will be one of two teams to represent Area 10e in Bakersfield in February.
