Malibu locals and visitors came out to support the late Emily Shane and her parents Michel and Ellen Shane, who cofounded the Emily Shane Foundation in honor of Emily, who was killed on PCH five years ago. The Stars and Sea Gala Fundraiser is an annual fundraising event the Shanes host in order to raise money for the Emily Shane Foundation’s Successful Education Achievement Program, which provides help to students who are overlooked by the local school system. This year’s event took place at Casa Escobar.
Musician Taylor Phelan performed at the event, which featured food, fun, art, and silent and live auctions. Students and mentors who have participated in the SEA Program spoke at the event, sharing about their experience and how the program has changed their lives.
