Hiphop mogul and rapper Dr. Dre was reportedly handcuffed outside his home following reports he brandished a firearm following a dispute with a motorist midday Monday, July 25, multiple news agencies reported.
The call appeared to have come after Dre, whose legal name is Andre Young, told a driver in a car he could not park in front of his home. The motorist called the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station to report Dre was wielding a handgun.
There were also some reports of an earlier road rage incident catalyzing the altercation.
“Due to the nature of the call, the person was searched, handcuffed and briefly detained in a patrol car while deputies investigated the incident,” Sheriff’s Captain Chris Reed told The LA Times.
Dre was reportedly “cooperative,” the Times said and was found not to have a weapon.
The District Attorney will not be pursuing charges.
