On Saturday, February 18th, Special Olympics held their 4th annual Polar Plunge at Zuma Beach. Students from USC, UCLA, and Pepperdine, as well as locals, and people from all over Southern California, came out to show their support and take “the Plunge”. The Coast Guard held an exciting water rescue demonstration before the Polar Plungers took to the cold waters.
A friendly rivalry was in play between USC and UCLA students. Although UCLA had the most enthusiasm when it came to belting out their fight song, it was USC students who took the lead with wins in all categories; highest fundraiser, best costume, highest earring team, and largest team.
Spirits were high both in and out of the water, and with over $22,000 raised, the Special Olympics 4th annual Polar Plunge was a great success!
