Southern California Edison officials appeared before the Malibu public safety commission yesterday … and gave the first explanation of their plans to black out the city when severe winds threaten.

And Malibu residents protested the plan.

Industrial scale moviemaking returned to a wilderness park in Malibu yesterday.

Residents of Puerco Canyon in were horrified to see huge trucks … buses and equipment hauled up the narrow switchback road … owned by the City of Malibu … that accesses the James Cameron wilderness Park.

In news from down the coast … Newport Beach has clipped Bird’s wings.

The Coast Pilot newspaper reports the electric scooter dropped off at least 50 of its two-wheeled vehicles on the Balboa Peninsula last weekend.

As usual… Bird gave no notice and pulled no permits.

The city issued a cease and desist letter.

Newport Beach is now Bird free.

Not so Santa Monica … and we have seen the birds migrating up PCH.

It’s only a matter of time.

It appears that Malibu had the all-time hottest July in recorded history.

The National Weather Service does not keep that statistic for Malibu.

But nearby Camarillo checks in with a day and night average of 75 degrees for the month of July.

That’s a record.

And at 78 degrees … it almost tied th erecord at UCLA.

Records were set elsewhere along the LA County coast as well

Those are ((((  fair )))) surfing conditions …. according to the lifeguards.

High tide … 4.3 feet … at 2:16 this afternoon.

Another low tide will hit at 8:15 tonight.  ))))
