Celebrating in Cuban style, Our Lady of Malibu School (OLM) hosted its annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 30, at the Malibu Jewish Community Center & Synagogue. This year’s theme was “Havana Nights.”

All decked out in Havana cocktail attire, Malibu locals, OLM staff members and friends came out to support the school. Live music performed by the Peter Torisello Trio filled the outdoor patio during cocktail hour. A mojito bar and an assortment of drinks quenched the thirst of partygoers who were busy hitting the casino tables and checking out the silent auction items.

Owner of Monrose Catering, Richard Chesterfield, and his staff served an array of Cuban-themed appetizers, including bunuelos, croquettes and empanadas. The dinner included Cuban-style enchiladas, chicken with a garlic and lemon sauce, and shredded beef simmered in a tomato-based sauce.

OLM Principal Michael Smith spoke to the group, sharing his gratitude for all those who worked to make the magic of the night happen, including fundraiser chair Lucinda Manera, and live auction girls Lisa Hall, Bonnie Flores and Tammy Arlidge. Father Bill Kerze led a prayer before dinner and the live auction began. Festivities also included dancing the night away to Cuban music.
