My husband and I witnessed and called 911 on yet another accident at the corner of PCH and Corral Canyon as we were taking in our mail last night. I often wonder if anyone other than we who live here and the sheriff’s department are aware of just how many accidents take place at this intersection, not just in summer, but throughout the year.
The owners of Beau Rivage are now in talks to open a hotel at this location. It is my hope and request that our city council members be wisely thinking ahead for the safety of our community and make sure that if the project is approved, it includes a traffic signal to mitigate the additional traffic problems the development will cause. It should not be at the city’s expense or the California taxpayers expense (via Caltrans) either. These days it is not uncommon for a developer to pay for the necessary traffic signals to go along with their project.
For the record, I have no issue with Mr. Forge building his dream if it is environmentally sound. I only ask that the safety of the community and the people who live up Corral Canyon be responsibly taken care of in the process. I would like to thank The Malibu Times for covering this project and keeping us informed. Though we live within 500 feet of the proposed project, no one has ever informed us or any of our neighbors that the Forges were trying to build a hotel. If not for the Times, we wouldn’t have a clue.
