Approximately 15 people gathered Saturday morning in Malibu Canyon to plead for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to reconsider the possibility of foul play in the death of Mitrice Richardson, a 24-year-old woman who disappeared in 2009 after being arrested for failing to pay a restaurant bill and whose remains were found in the canyon nearly a year later. Protester Ronda Hampton said there is evidence that foul play occurred and hopes to “breathe fresh life” into the investigation.
