The following incidents were reported between 10/5 – 10/12:

10/5

Bike burglary

Suspects broke into a motorcycle parked in the Malibu Colony Plaza and the items inside were stolen. The victim said the cargo carrier and the left hand brake to the motorcycle were broken.

Beach burglars

Deputies responded to a burglary in the Zuma Beach snack bar. The victim called deputies when he noticed the entrance door was damaged and the property had been ransacked. About $1,500 cash was stolen from the register.

Car crime

Deputies responded to a grand theft on Surfrider Beach in Malibu. The victim said she parked her vehicle, hid her keys in a bush, and upon return, the keys were missing and her phone and wallet were stolen.

Sweet tooth 

A man stole a candy bar from a Mobil gas station in Malibu. The victim said the suspect was upset there was no warm food available, grabbed the candy bar and walked out of the store. The suspect was approximately 45 to 55 years old with brown hair, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark colored shorts and with multiple face tattoos. The deputy later found the suspect while on patrol and the suspect said he was on probation but did not specify for what reason. The deputy detained the suspect for the petty theft investigation.

Bicycle getaway

A black backpack was stolen near a restaurant in Malibu. The victim said he left his backpack on the beach and, upon return, saw a man around 220 lbs and wearing a black hat ride away on his bike with his backpack. The backpack contained a wallet, car keys and clothing.

Take back time

Deputies responded to a grand theft at a cafe on Cross Creek Road. The victim left a backpack containing a Breitling emergency watch worth $20,000, a seamaster watch worth $5,000 and a black Montblanc pen worth $5,000. The victim returned to the cafe and asked if anyone turned it in, but no one had.

Mac missing

Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary on Solstice Canyon Road in Malibu. The vehicle’s window was broken and several items, including a silver iPad, a silver Mac laptop and air pods, had been taken.

Shattered glass

A laptop and diagnostic tools were stolen from a vehicle parked on Las Flores Canyon Road in Malibu. The vehicle’s rear side window was shattered and the backpack containing a Touch Book laptop was stolen.

Brick Burglary

Scratch-off lottery tickets and packs of cigarettes were stolen from a gas station on Rambla Pacifico in Malibu. The victim said the registers had been cleaned out and found the brick that was used to break the window. The victim provided the deputies with video footage with the suspect breaking into the store.

Purse pinched

A rear passenger window was smashed in a vehicle parked on Corral Canyon road and a victim’s purse containing miscellaneous items was stolen. 

Bag burgled

Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary at Malibu Colony shopping center. The victim said she returned to her vehicle and noticed the front window was smashed and her purse, containing a wallet and other miscellaneous items, was stolen.Â
