There will be a DUI checkpoint Friday between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. in Malibu, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department reports. The checkpoints are designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and encourage designated drivers. “In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving” the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department said.
