Dr. Freda Rossi was appointed as the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District family engagement coordinator at its June 14 meeting. Her tenure will begin on July 1.
In the position, she will help the implementation of the Family Engagement Framework, which “provides guidance to schools as they work to implement effective family engagement practices that yield higher levels of student academic success and college and career readiness,” according to a statement released by the school district.
Rossi has worked in public education for more than 20 years, with experience in kindergarten through 12th grades as well as in university-level instruction. She works as a HeartMath coach currently.
The new coordinator has degrees from Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Long Beach and UC Irvine.
“Dr. Rossi will be a strong addition to our management team,” Superintendent Dr. Ben Drati said in an emailed statement from SMMUSD.
