For the past 27 years, the Malibu Presbyterian Church has traveled south of the border twice a year to build houses and share hope to people residing just south of Tecate in Baja California, Mexico.

This year, on May 25 and 26, more than 90 volunteers, including Malibu residents, volunteered to help contribute to the thousands of homes that have been built with the organization Baja Christian Ministers.

In an email to The Malibu Times, MPC Missions Director Lisa Cislo wrote, “In the course of two days, the teams frame, paint, roof, hammer and drywall the house into place.”

“We hear so much negativity in the news about the border situation, but we believe our faith compels us to love each other and build one another up regardless of borders,” she later concluded.

The next volunteer trip will take place from October 26-27. Those interested can email missions director Lisa Cislo at lcislo@malibupres.org.
