The Olympic Games officially begin on Friday, Aug. 5 with the opening ceremony televised starting at 4 p.m. Pacific time on NBC.
The 2016 Rio Olympics, billed as “the most live Olympics ever” by NBC, will be broadcast in a variety of places both on television and online.
Events can be seen primarily on NBC, but also on Bravo, MSNBC and USA Network. Most will also be available to stream online at NBCOlympics.com for free, or through the NBC Sports App (available for purchase online).
Malibu residents and Pepperdine alumni will be competing in this year’s games in several sports. To the right is the schedule of events for the first week of competition for athletes from Malibu; the schedule will be updated for the next two weeks. The Olympics run from the opening ceremonies on Friday through the closing ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 21. All times shown are Pacific.
