Athletes Dax Blinn, James Townsend, and Ben Holmes participated in the invitation-only Football University camp for high school and youth football players in Los Angeles last weekend. Based on their performances at the camp, the athletes were selected to compete in the Football University “Top Gun” football combine next summer in Williamsburg, Va. Additionally, Holmes and Blinn were honored as co-most valuable offensive players for the seventh grade and were selected to the 2012-2013 FBU National Championship team.
Holmes, who lives on Point Dume, is an Eastbay Youth All-American offensive lineman. He played for the winning East team in the 2012 Eastbay seventh-grade All-American Bowl in San Antonio last year, along with a variety of other all-star games.
Malibu resident Townsend played center and defensive end for the Westlake Braves J2 division in the Gold Coast Youth League last year. This was his second invite to the FBU camp.
Blinn is a quarterback who played for the Calabasas White Senior Division team in the Pacific Youth Football League last year and played as an all-star in the 2011-2012 FBU Championship tournament. His grandparents, Steve and Donna, are longtime members of the Malibu community who live on Point Dume.
