The City of Malibu and Los Angeles County will be opening a Disaster Assistance Center at the Old Malibu Courthouse and Malibu Library on Monday, despite a planned power outage that will affect all of eastern Malibu.

The outage, announced by Southern California Edison, could occur between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday for the company to repair transmission lines.

The assistance center, which first opened Saturday, provides “a central location where those affected by the fire can access needed services, resources and support from a variety of public and nonprofit agencies,” according to the City of Malibu.

The center will be open Monday through Saturday for normal hours, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except Thanksgiving.

Another assistance center is operating on the same schedule in Agoura Hills at the Hilton Foundation Building, 30440 Agoura Road.Â
