Is it enough?

Commissioner Doug O’Brien tells us that “There are no playing fields here. Kids have to have a place to play.” A place to play? We have 27 miles of beach for surfing, jogging, swimming, snorkeling and volleyball. We have Bluffs Park where there are two baseball diamonds that sit idle most of the time and the adjacent and the undeveloped, unused Malibu Bluffs State Recreational Area. This is a huge area that could be developed for games and why aren’t these diamonds illuminated for night play? I’ve heard arguments that it will blind traffic on PCH or the neighbors will complain. Well, common sense tells us that we don’t aim the lights at the traffic, we aim them at the ball field and I’m the closest neighbor to home plate. It seems to me that a lot more can be done with what we already have without wanting more.
