Opening at the Topanga Canyon Gallery June 11, 2021
Fragile Links: Three artists exploring the fragile links between ourselves and the people, places, animals and environment of the world we share.
It’s easy to forget how special and fragile our relationship with our world is.
Every living thing borrows space on the earth and is transient. From the smallest microorganisms to the largest animals, all life on Earth has a common ancestor. Everything is connected to everything.
Earth and our place in it is an incredibly complex and fragile network of interconnected systems that have developed slowly over the last 4.5 billion years. In our short tenancy here, we make a choice to nourish our relationships so that they sustain and enhance all that we are connected to or choose to disregard them to the detriment of whole
It’s a choice. It’s important to see, taste, and feel the wonder of our existence in order to make the right decisions.
Patrick Ramsey’s engaging and sensitive photography explore the personal relationships we have with each other. Sari Scheer explores the sustainability and fragile relationships between us and the environment by reusing discarded bottles to create delicate and engaging glass sculptures. Russell Hunziker’s landscape paintings ask us to look past the beautiful natural world that he depicts and see the underlying environmental damage that humans have caused.
