Hayden Clark (center) wins first place in the Street Contest of the California State Games held July 18 and 19 in San Diego.

Hayden Clark, a freshman at Malibu High School, two weekends ago participated in the California State Games in San Diego, a statewide amateur sports festival that is a grass roots program of the United States Olympic Committee.

The Skateboard Street Division, the Bowl Contest and the Vertical Contest were all won by Clark, who also placed third in the Mini Ramp Contest. He is now qualified for the 2011 State Games of America.

Clark skateboards for local company Drill, and was also named statewide “athlete of the year” by the California Amateur Skateboard League for the 2A Division.
