Owning a boat is expensive, not to mention hassle. Upkeep alone with cleaning, maintenance and slip fees will top most car payments. But the dream of owning a boat still draws many people who enjoy sailing and what the freedom of being on the ocean provides. A membership to Carefree Boat Club ends the expense and hassle of boat ownership while providing the freedom of boating any time you choose.
Carefree Boat Club was started two years ago by Bijan Namdar and Tona Gomez to take the hassle out of owning a boat and lessen the sting of costly repairs, winterization, insurance and slip fees.
After a one-time initiation fee, members only pay monthly dues, but then enjoy unlimited usage of the latest boats and cruisers all at the touch of online reservations. Based out of Marina del Rey, Carefree Boat Club also partners with other boat clubs around the country, providing members with a network of options.
Boats can be reserved for short half-day outings or for up to two days — enough time to cruise to Catalina with an overnight stay. What better way to spend time with family or entertain clients or guests?
For those who are new to boating, a training program is included free with membership.
“Members are trained on all the boats to operate by themselves”, Carefree Boat Club owner Namdar explained. “We cover all the insurance, slip fees and taxes. The only thing you pay for is membership fees
and gas. Membership to Carefree Boat Club takes all the work and maintenance of boat ownership and absolutely alleviates it.
“Most of our members find they are actually boating a lot more with the club than if they were to buy their own boat and it’s a lot less expensive. No more paying for parking the boat, bottom cleaning and oil changes.
“Another advantage of the club is that we have a variety of boats,” Namdar continued. “If you went to buy your own boat you are stuck with that one. By joining the club, you can skipper boats from 27- to 35-feet in length. It’s great for those who enjoy water sports, fishing or even just enjoying a sunset out at sea. Two boats in the fleet are cruisers with a downstairs area that people often sail to Catalina. And another plus: All of the boats are brand new, with the latest technology. After two-to-three years, the boats are sold and replaced with new ones.”
