Two hundred School on Wheels students were bused in from all over Southern California on Dec. 21 for a pre-Christmas party at Paradise Cove. The students were treated to jolly jumps, Santa (arriving via a Malibu fire truck) and lunch courtesy of Paradise Beach Cove Cafe. Paradise Cove residents and Walgreens donated toys and gifts.
Residents Bob Morris and Steve Dahlberg have been organizing the annual event for many years now.
School on Wheels provides educational assistance to more than 6,000 children annually, with the goal to provide every homeless student in California the means to go to and succeed in school.
According to the National Center of Family Homelessness, 350,000 children in California will experience homelessness this year. For more information on School on Wheels, go to schoolonwheels.org
