If you haven’t been to the Grotto hiking trail in west Malibu lately, you’re going to be surprised. On a recent walk through the meadow and past the oak and sycamore trees, I finally got to the bottom of the Grotto. But where was the water?
I shouldn’t have been so disappointed when I saw just a little bit of water in the pond. I hear neighbors complaining about their water wells. I watch water trucks coming up the hill every day, and see many trees dying, but it seems like I had to see with my own eyes the water situation down in the Grotto.
This is the first drought experience of my life. It’s very sad. I hope we have a good rain this coming winter.
