The City of Malibu was recently given the 2012 Outstanding Agency of the Year Award and the 2012 Outstanding New Recreation Facility Award, both from the Channel Cities Municipal Athletic Association. The association is a nonprofit organization made up of cities and park districts in California that focus on creating healthy communities through physical activities.

“Malibu is proud to offer opportunities for all to enjoy the health and recreational benefits of athletic participation,” said Mayor Lou La Monte.

The Outstanding Agency award recognizes the city’s 2012 Adult and Youth Sports Calendar for its variety of physical activities. Additionally, the New Recreation Facility award recognizes the expansion of City Hall’s Parks and Recreation Department and its increase of public programs.
