In this season of campaign mudslinging and misleading advertising, I was most distressed to read the advertisements and mailers against measure P.
I believe in its design and layout it could rank as one of the most misleading political advertisements I’ve ever seen.
Whoever designed and placed the ad purposely, and strategically, listed just about every organization, city, county and state commission and even both major political parties in a way that the reader might get the impression that all these esteemed governmental agencies and institutions, somehow are against Measure P.
This is a gross deception, as most government agencies and commissions are not even allowed to take a stand, opposing or supporting political issues.
At least one of the non-governmental organizations listed in the ad has come out in support of Measure P.
I thought Malibu, as a city of people who want to stop mean-spirited, harmful, and misleading political campaigns, had made an ethical resolution to halt this kind of thing after the turmoil leading to the last Malibu elections.
It’s high time that this type of purposeful political deception stops.
