Phantom lumberyard

Twice this week, once at the Cross Creek coffee shop and another time at the Malibu Vet, I was approached by someone in a pickup truck asking where the entrance to the Malibu Lumber and Hardware was. Obviously from out of town, they had driven around the block several times looking for a route to the plywood and plastic needed to fix a roof and to shore up a hillside. I first chuckled, then I had to explain to them that the sign they saw on PCH was fraudulent and that such a business didn’t really exist. The people in the City of Malibu were subsidizing the sham! Both tradesmen couldn’t believe that the sign was allowed to falsely continue to advertise something that did not exist in our city.

Hopefully, for the sake of the community, Mr. Anawalt will be awarded the lease at the Coldwell Banker building to put in a real hardware and lumber yard. Dave Anawalt runs a great business that will pull in more tax revenue than the losers at the fake lumberyard will ever bring in.
