The City of Malibu Parks and Recreation Department will present a preliminary draft of its 2012 Parks and Recreation Master Plan and give the public an opportunity to review and comment on the plan at a meeting Oct. 11 at City Hall. The master plan is intended to guide the city’s future parks and recreational facility needs.

“The Master Plan will help the city meet the needs of its current and future residents by sustaining and improving our community’s unique parks and recreation assets,” Malibu Mayor Lou La Monte said. “The focus on community input is a critical aspect in this plan. We thank all residents who participated in the process.”

According to a release from the city, the preliminary master plan is based on information collected through a series of public workshops, focus groups and stakeholder meetings. Additionally, a citywide survey was included in the community outreach process.

The 2012 Parks and Recreation Master Plan will be presented Thursday at Malibu City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Rd., at 6:30 p.m. For more information, including a copy of the preliminary plan, visit malibucity.org.
