Why is the passage this November of Measure EE absolutely critical for our local schools? Because we have a lot to be proud of in our highly-regarded school district, and a lot to protect. Because the values of our homes depend on the reputations of our schools.
Because the State of California, which has underfunded education for years, has decreased its funding even further in the midst of its current budget crisis. Because without this parcel tax, our district will be short, by $5 million annually, the funds to simply maintain current programs.
Because we in Malibu have always had higher educational goals than to merely maintain the status quo. Because the potential cuts, which have already been determined, will be more devastating than any threat that the District has faced in recent memory. Because the District’s strong leadership and auditing practices ensure that the money will be spent wisely and efficiently.
Because we have the power locally to change the current situation from a severe case of underfunding to one in which successful programs continue, improvements are implemented, and the students of Malibu thrive! Please vote Yes on EE!
