Students and members of the community tie ribbons to Malibu High School’s Theatre Department’s “Peace Fence” to show their support for the Erase Hate campaign.

Malibu High School’s Theatre Department launched a “Peace Fence” as part of their Erase Hate campaign. The idea of the fence is to tie a ribbon to show support for acceptance of all people and to put an end to hate crimes and bullying.

The Theatre Department created the fence to spread a message of tolerance to the MHS campus and the local community. The MHS fall play, opening Nov. 21, is “The Laramie Project,” which tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a gay man who was murdered in a hate crime in Laramie, Wyo. in 1998.
