Giving dogs their due

In response to Steven Bard’s letter, you are positively correct in saying dogs cannot change an old person’s diaper. However, dogs can offer joy and loyalty and love to all humans regardless of age. The purpose of bringing children into the world is not to change diapers but to create responsible, intelligent, loving people.

Mr. Bard, more important than changing your diaper, having a dog will prolong your life-as has been proven with many senior citizens today-and if you’re kind and patient, he will learn to push your rocking chair for you.

Dogs’ needs are minimal-love, food and exercise-which comes under the necessity for a dog park. A dog park will lessen the ongoing problems of irresponsible owners who do not clean after their pet in public places.
