Should the Malibu West HOA support a lawsuit against Trancas Park? The results are in: No 73. Yes 76.
Opened, interestingly enough, by four park opponents, and one proponent, ballots were counted Monday evening at the Malibu West Beach Club, resulting in a split vote. Contrary to park opponents’ claim that “the entire community is against the park,” residents of the Malibu West HOA voted right down the middle, 73 to 76. No mandate was achieved. Considering this small neighborhood (270 homes) is the most greatly impacted, an almost 50 percent vote in support of the park (not to sue against it) clearly indicates to the rest of Malibu how many residents support this park.
Now, think how many of the 13,000 Malibu residents are for the park who don’t live in Malibu West, and it’s not in their backyard. There are thousands of people who vote and pay taxes and get to bring their kids and dogs, and friends to enjoy the park all year round. The City of Malibu is hosting a final workshop for the design of Trancas Park this Thursday at City Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. All park supporters are encouraged to attend.
