The Malibu High School JV baseball team handily beat St. Monica School 10-1 last week. The Sharks victory was a team effort, with each player contributing offensively and defensively.
Freshman Andre Simoneau threw a one-hitter through five innings, with 10 strikeouts and only two walks. Freshmen Bronson Bard had four RBIs and Chris Armstrong had two, combining for plenty of offense to win the game. Freshmen Troy Schlobom and Jack Gewant got on base each time they were at bat and both scored to increase the lead.
The defensive stars of the game were sophomore Nick Anthony, who nailed a runner attempting to steal second, and freshman Michael Novak, who flew in from right field to catch a fly ball between center and second. Additionally, sophomore Miles Tade, who also had two RBIs, contributed to the Sharks’ pitching dominance by pitching a scoreless sixth inning.
