Fine art giclée reproductions of two of the iconic works of recently deceased local artist, longtime resident and community activist Julie Van Zandt May are now available. May’s family has made the prints available for a donation to the Rotary Club of Malibu.
A former actress, painting became Julie May’s passion soon after she, and her husband Fred, moved to Malibu in 1966. They later were founding members of the Malibu Lagoon Museum and the Malibu Art Festival and she was an active member of the Malibu Art Association. Her large mural depicting the Chumash Indians hangs in the Malibu Lagoon Museum adjacent to the Adamson House.
To acquire prints of two of her most recognized and cherished paintings, the “Malibu Pier,” “Surfside Beach” and “Point Dume,” giclée reproduced and beautifully framed, contact carlye.rudkin2@verizon.net.
