IT’S IN THE CARDS
They’re edgy and they have attitude. They’re sexy and sarcastic. They’re Rattlebox videos, a new generation of hip, entertaining e-cards that are cutting-edge cool and anything but ordinary.
Using a vast library filled with classic cartoons, vintage movie clips, campy public service ads and professionally produced videos, Rattlebox.com lets you play the part of media producer and custom design your own messages. These are hardly Hallmark moments.
With bouncy strippers sending “jiggle” all the way and buffed-out Santas unwrapping their Christmas “packages,” Rattlebox cards were a hit during the holidays, and producers expect them to be just as hot over Valentine’s Day.
The video clips and greetings aren’t all rated R, but they are definitely different and so is the way you can manipulate them. “Rattlebox was created to fill the void for people who wouldn’t send out traditional e-cards,” said Nancy Miller Gomez, Rattlebox’s co-founder and co-CEO. “People are drawn to social networking sites because they want to express themselves on their own terms. Rattlebox provides a truly unique communication tool unlike anything else currently available online. Users can custom make video e-cards or chose from our existing collection.”
There’s a free video greeting for every occasion with subjects that cover love, dating, holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, apologies, invites and announcements to name a few. You might select a whacky comedy card using the greeting provided or switch it up by entering and creating your own special message. Any line in the script can be altered. The cards can be posted on blogs and networking sites and sent via IM using an embedded code. “We’re very excited about this unique feature,” Gomez said. “It gives people the opportunity to really interact with the media, personalize it in a whole new way, and communicate and connect.”
You’ll find loads of laughs on this site. But if you think a nice, bare bottom with a smiley face wouldn’t cut it as a greeting for granny, there are plenty of cute kids and playful pets to choose from. The steamier selections are flagged as not suitable for children or for folks who are easily offended. But whether you’re in the market for something wild or mild, there’s a world of content at your fingertips.
Every day more and more people are turning to planet-saving paperless greetings as an alternative to traditional snail mail. E-cards are not only cheaper and greener, but now they’re actually cool and you don’t have to be a techy to use them. So this year, say goodbye to cheesy old cupids and the same sappy sentiments and put some pizzazz into Valentine’s Day. Roses are red. Violets are blue. Check out Rattlebox. It’s fun and new!
