Find Your Joy

After a recent MSNBC broadcast on tar balls polluting Southern California’s beaches I was asked, “How do I keep so cheery in the face of numerous environmental calamities that are piling up?”

My answer, “Find your joy.”

It’s true. From 3 a.m. onward, I see an immense amount of destruction and looting each day on our planet. I shine a light on to one topic each morning with an Earthcast SOS podcast, and once a week we shoot an Earth Calling SOS video.

When I switch off, I seek humor, music and walking as tonic for my soul.

I relish watching George Carlin do his shtick on YouTube. I also watch old re-runs of “Faulty Towers”, “Seinfeld” and “Barney Miller.”

John Denver, The Eagles, Sting, Little Feat, Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney are some of my favorite recording artists.

Each day I deliberately take quiet time in the morning and evening to breathe and allow the universal energy to cleanse my soul. I am at one with the universe; I feel it, and that keeps me grounded and focused.

I thought you might enjoy some levity with a couple outtakes from Earth Calling SOS.

Please take some time to smile throughout each day because smiling naturally elevates dopamine in our brain — and dopamine makes us feel good!
