Zac Delap, a Pepperdine University graduate and Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar, spoke to the Malibu Rotary Club about his experience in a Chinese Shaolin temple last week.
Delap, who is originally from Pacific Grove, Calif., first spoke to the club on April 27 when he was accepted in to the Rotary Ambassadorial Program. He talked then of his plans to study international relations in Auckland, New Zealand, and his upcoming summer trip to China.
In China, Delap spent a month at a Shaolin Temple, a martial arts camp high in the mountains. He spoke about the strict atmosphere of the temple, such as how the instructors frequently used physical force through their teaching. He said he learned discipline and martial arts, as well as cardio skills.
