Dr. Frank Ryan, a celebrity plastic surgeon and philanthropist, was killed on Monday when his vehicle crashed on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County. He was 50.
Ryan gained fame for performing multiple surgeries on reality television star Heidi Montag. He also had several other celebrity clients. Ryan was a frequent guest on various television talk shows.
His philanthropy work included free tattoo removal for former gang members and the founding of the Bony Pony Ranch. The Malibu ranch offers an atmosphere for underprivileged and at-risk youth to excel beyond their current situations. It is also used for various fundraisers, including those for the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation.
According to the Associated Press, Ryan is survived by his mother, Mary Kate Ryan, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. A candlelight vigil was expected to take place on Tuesday night at Zuma Beach after The Malibu Times went to print.
