Letter: The Force Be With Us

It’s been many years since Malibu was a sleepy, unincorporated beach town. It has grown into its own city with many of its own resources, except one, which affects every Malibu citizen – the sheriff.

The median home sale in Malibu is over 3 million dollars. This is far from the median home price in the Antelope Valley or other unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Our citizens have different needs than those of Santa Clarita or Palmdale.

Malibu lacks community policing. Beverly Hills, San Marino and the like have their own forces and know their citizens. Should the City Council explore this? Should they invite Calabasas to join in?

There are not a lot of meth labs or gang violence in our community. We simply have different needs.
